A free first-person horror game for Windows

LIFO is an odd first-person horror game where you have to make your way through an unknown location to find your girlfriend and make a choice as to if she lives.

A weird and creepy gaming experiment

LIFO has drawn its inspiration from the Saw movie franchise and a movie called, “Amusement.” Know that the game is finished, but that the ending is very abrupt and there is little explanation as to why you and your girlfriend were kidnapped. The graphics and movement controls are built on the unreal engine, which is why the graphics look like something from PlayStation One. You have no weapons and you can avoid damage by running away. It feels like a big horror experiment where the developer was trying out numerous cross-genre methods for scaring you, which is why some areas will creep you out more than others. It is also why the rooms are so inconsistent, from a storeroom with a dead body to a room full of spiders and sunflowers.

Mostly creepy and a little scary

LIFO does have jump scares that are similar to Five Nights At Freddys (FNAF), but they are a little better introduced than with FNAF. As cliche as it sounds, the way the lighting has been directed in this game is quite extraordinary. The graphics and game play feel very indie, but the way that light has been used is the equivalent of big budget games such as Amnesia (2010) and RE4 (2005).
