The highly-anticipated new King of Fighters game
The King of Fighters XV is an action game for PC developed by SNK CORPORATION. It is the latest entry to the popular and long-running fighting game franchise, The King of Fighters. It picks up right where the previous game’s story left off and will feature new playable characters.
Just like with TEKKEN 7 and Street Fighter V, The King of Fighters XV will be the first title in the series to use Unreal Engine 4. With it, the game will feature greatly improved graphics and gameplay compared to its predecessors. It will be released on February 17, 2022.
What is new about it?
The King of Fighters is one of the most popular and longest-running fighting game franchises, alongside Street Fighter and Tekken. It was responsible for pioneering the innovating Team Battle System and featured its own unique roster of memorable characters. If you’ve been a fan, you’ll know that each new release also progresses the story further, and the upcoming The King of Fighters XV is no exception.
The King of Fighters XV picks up where XIV’s story left off, focusing on the chaos that Verse has caused. It also follows a woman known as Chizuru Kagura who gathers the fighters Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami to look after the seal of the snake demon Orochi. It will be the first entry in the series to use the Unreal Engine 4 game engine, as well.
There will be 39 playable characters at launch, with more planned as DLCs. The popular Max Mode and Shatter Strike game mechanics make their return here, as well. There’s also a new DJ Station that features over 300 songs from the KOF series and others. The game is not yet available as of this writing, though. There’s some waiting left to be done until its February 2022 release.
KOF is finally back
If you’ve been a long-time fan of the KOF series, then you’ll know that it’s been quite a while since a new game has been released. Well, you won’t have to wait much longer as The King of Fighters XV is finally coming. With it, comes a continuation to the story, new characters, and a new game engine. Plenty of stuff to be excited about.
