Free eerie point and click adventure game

Out of Range is a first-person point and click adventure game made by the Oxbane Project. They’re a group of students from ENTI University in Barcelona, and this is their second-year project. It’s three dimensional, hyper-realistic graphics set the scene for the game. A hauler from the Hightop crashes her ship in an eerie, unmapped location. As the hauler, your goal is to find a way to activate the communications tower and get out quickly.

Make it to the top

Out of Range is a short but thrilling game about a fictional female hauler named Brynn Nethersen. She’s a laborer from the Hightop – a city above the clouds. Her ship crashes on incredibly rocky terrain, leaving her alone in a dark yet intriguing place. As Brynn, you need to make it to the comms room inside the lighthouse. You will need to signal to other boats that you’re stranded as fast as you can.

Without sharing the ending of the game, it is important to complete this task as Brynn’s survival depends on it. The graphics of the game is incredibly realistic; each area of the sea, coast, and lighthouse appear true to life. This makes it all the scarier since you are – supposedly – alone. Without your resources, you will need to click on the choices that will return the best outcome.

The game focuses solely on point and click mechanics. You will still use your arrow or WASD keys to move around, but progress is done by making a decision. The prompts, choices, or guides can be seen on the lower right side of your screen. Each key has a corresponding text or image next to it, letting you know what will happen if you make that choice. The game will conclude in 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Short yet incredibly eerie game

For a student project, this is a well-made game and can stand alongside titles made by large publishers. By making the game mechanics simple, you get to immerse yourself in an environment that appears cold, dark, and wet. The catch is that the game is short; within a few minutes, you will know the outcome of your choices. You can play it again a few times but with limited choices, the game has low replay value
