1v1 twin-stick shooter game for PC

Godstrike is a premium action game for PC made by the developers over at OverPowered Team. It is a top-down twin-stick shooter that focuses on 1v1 battles and utilizes bullet-hell gameplay mechanics. Players will engage in over-the-top fights with god-like beings.

Compared to other bullet hell-style games like Enter the Gungeon where players will be facing enemies in waves and endless quantity, Godstrike is focused more on epic singular battles. It bypasses everything and goes straight to the bosses themselves. It also utilizes a unique mechanic that ties character health to a countdown timer.

Power within the mask

In Godstrike, you play as the embodiment of Talaal, the last of the god’s seven masks. You are the unwitting vessel in which she will be waging war with her siblings who are all looking to absorb her powers into their own. Thus, begins a perilous journey that’s unlike any other. Instead of hordes of small enemies, you’ll be going straight to the boss battles themselves.

There are over 40 skills that you will be able to unlock after defeating bosses. The game lets you customize your load-out, combining various abilities suited to your playstyle and opponents. Each boss battle has a countdown timer, giving you limited time to defeat your opponent. What’s more, it’s directly tied to your health, so it comes to a balancing act between speed and avoiding getting hit.

When you’re done with the campaign but want more, you can then dive into other game modes, including a roguelite mode for some randomness and unpredictability. The game balance needs further tweaking, though, as difficulty among bosses is highly inconsistent. Also, some attacks lack markers and have large hitboxes, making them almost impossible to dodge—could be by design or not, but it is worth pointing out.

Speed is of the utmost importance

Godstrike is a mix of roguelike and boss rush gameplay that is complemented by a novel time/health mechanic. It does a good job of testing your skills, pushing you to be aggressive with your attack while still being agile enough to avoid deadly hits. While it needs some balancing tweaks, it’s not enough to prevent you from enjoying the experience. Give it a shot.
