The FTP client on your Dashboard
The Transmit Widget lets you access the excellent FTP client for Mac straight from your Dashboard.
Once you have Transmit set up on your Mac it’s a good idea to also get this widget, to quickly transfer files.
The widget is easy to configure: enter server, user, password and path details and your ready to go. Next all you need to do is drop files you wish to transfer onto the widget.
As Transmit processes it you’ll see the little truck icon get in motion. A little green check will tell you that the transfer is done.
On the downside don’t expect the Transmit widget to give you full access to all of the great features in the FTP client.
It’s only really useful for quick uploads. If you want to browse for files, create a secure transfer, access Amazon S3 or interact with Spotlight and Automator your better off connecting to Transmit altogether.
One thing to note though, every time you carry out an upload in the widget the Transmit interface will pop up, showing that it’s actually working.
Transmit is an excellent FTP (file transfer protocol), SFTP, and iDisk/WebDAV client that allows you to upload, download, and delete files over the internet.
With the most Mac-like interface available, Transmit makes FTP as simple, fun, and easy as it can possibly be. Thanks to this widget, if you have it installed you can access Transmit straight from your Dashboard.
