Free city building game

Mini Cities is a free building experience for Roblox created by DestroyerCam. This game is reminiscent of the mini-city mods for Minecraft but with more lively mechanics. The game is fairly new on the Roblox scene, having only been launched in 2020. However, in that time, Mini Cities has amassed a healthy player base of over 6.9 million players.

Roblox is an excellent source of city-building or life simulation games like Mini Cities. If you enjoy this sort of gameplay, or even if you prefer to explore a city in first-person mode, you’ll no doubt find countless alternatives that you should enjoy. If you are willing to part with a few Robux for a good life simulation experience, try Welcome to Bloxburg. You’ll be able to own houses and drive cars while roleplaying with your friends. If you’d prefer a free experience, try Farming and Friends.

Build a city

Mini Cities is, first and foremost, a powerful city-building tool. Similar to SimCity 2000 or Cities: Skylines, you can use MIni Cities to build a vast and sprawling cityscape complete with all of the amenities and services a city might need.

Unlike many other Roblox experiences, Mini Cities puts you in charge of the most minute details, such as where the roads run and where your city’s water and electricity will come from. However, don’t expect the kind of free-form organizational capabilities that you’ll get in a dedicated platform such as Cities: Skylines; This is, after all, Roblox.

Square-based building

Stepping away from the Cities: Skylines comparison, this game is much more akin to a miniature city server on Minecraft. All of the amenities, buildings, and road segments fit into the space of one clearly defined block. This also breaks a little bit with the Lego-esque format that Roblox usually uses, which defines the relation between objects and the space occupied by them in studs.

Due to this square-based building style, you cannot build complex structures like roundabouts, overpasses, or off-ramps. Anything you build will be at right angles in relation to everything else, and nothing can be placed diagonally.

Lacks features but is still fun

Unlike most of the other experiences on Roblox, Mini Cities is a solitary project. You will build your city and watch it prosper independent of anyone around you. In fact, you won’t even be able to see what structures other’s build.

This, combined with the obvious lack of features that would bring a feel of realism to the game, makes it a little less compelling than other Roblox experiences. However, if you simply want to be left alone build a little oasis in peace, this is definitely the game for you.
