Session-based survival game
Icarus is a PvE survival game developed by RocketWerkz. In this action game, your challenge is to explore an alien planet with the mission of grabbing resources. The game is playable solo or with a group of up to eight players.
Unlike other exploration games, your environment here in Icarus is savage. As you venture out, you will meet various hazards. More than that, you have a time limit. If you don’t make it out alive before time runs out, you will lose everything. Although, once you get comfortable with the game map, everything will be relatively easy.
What is Icarus?
Icarus is a session-based game. Here, you will play as a prospector tasked to explore—and endure—an alien planet. More than exploration, you will also complete missions and search for valuable exotic materials. The materials you collected will then be converted into advanced technology that you can use in your next mission. As mentioned, the game offers both single-player mode and co-op mode of up to eight players.
Your exploration will not be as easy as you might think. The planet is not only an alien environment, but it will be hostile as well. From the toxic atmosphere to savage wildlife and game-altering weather changes, everywhere spells trouble. Also not helping your cause is the fact that you have a time limit per session. If you don’t escape and complete your mission in time, you will lose everything.
As a platformer title, the difficulty of each session will also vary. There may be a smaller time limit or a particularly harsher environment. However, the game will allow you to control the intensity of the task at hand. Moreover, while it can be overwhelming at first, it won’t take you long to get the hang of the gameplay and be comfortable with the game map and the missions.
Is the game good?
Icarus brings the space exploration genre to a new height. Instead of conquering an unexplored world, it brings you to different alien environments in every session. With this, no experience is the same. Then it challenges you even further by adding a time limit to every mission. Don’t worry, though. It might be intense at first, but once you get the hang of it, the game can be pretty chill.
