Improve life in the desert
My Time at Sandrock is a role-playing video game wherein you can join a quaint desert community and become their most precious builder in town. Developed by Pathea Games, this 3D simulation game is a cute-looking sandbox life sim that serves as the sequel to My Time at Portia and the second installment in the My Time game series.
Similar to its predecessor, My Time at Sandrock has you crafting and building various machines in order to both fulfill NPC requests and improve your community’s land. This time, however, there are all-new features added that improve upon the previous game’s enjoyability.
How big is My Time at Sandrock?
First released in 2019, My Time at Portia is a life sim game that combines aspects of role-playing and simulation gameplay mechanics. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has emerged from underground and has begun rebuilding society using the leftover technology they scavenge. Inspired by games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon, My Time at Portia has you gathering resources, crafting, improving your home, and befriending NPCs.
These core features are retained in My Time at Sandrock, as it was originally meant to be a DLC but was eventually expanded into a full-blown sequel. You now get to play in the new city-state of Sandrock, a desert location that offers new opportunities for crafting. Your goal is still the same: run your workshop in order to improve life in the town and save it from ruin.
You do this by exploring the open-world map and collecting resources. The combat returns here but now comes with new gameplay mechanics. The biggest change, however, is the focus on the story—with hundreds of side-quests to complete and over 30 all-new characters to get to know. Take note that this makes the game much beefier than the first one, though, and requires a minimum of 20 GB storage space.
A bigger world awaits you
All in all, My Time at Sandrock is a great entry for the My Time series despite its bigger file size. Not only does it add new features compared to the previous game, but it also brings in numerous quality-of-life updates to improve its gameplay mechanics. Whether you’re an old fan of My Time at Portia or simply a new player interested in the series, this game can accommodate all.
