How many bystanders can you prank?
God Of Pranks is a free game with a sense of humor. The player takes control of a wacky prankster who delights in playing practical jokes on the public. The goal is to annoy as many bystanders as possible.
This app should not be confused with apps designed to prank people, like Fake Caller ID or Prank Call Panda. Unlike these, it is a game with pranks as the theme: the only people you’ll be pranking are game characters.
Three types of prank
The pranks in God Of Pranks have three varieties. The first and most prominent involves the main character hiding in a cardboard box or similar place on a street corner. By pushing the screen, you can make him jump out at passersby. The more bystanders you scare, the faster your meter fills. When it’s full, you’ll move levels.
Eggs and text messages
The second type of prank involves throwing eggs or projectiles at passersby. This is similar to the first type, being again a question of timing the right move. The third type is a virtual chat messenger in which the main character talks to someone else, and the player chooses the most outrageous lies from a menu.
Some mechanics are better than others
In some ways, the gameplay mechanics are sophisticated, but clunky in other ways. The scoring system is fairly complex, taking into account factors like whether or not the victim saw you before you pranked them. But the collision detection is flawed, with passersby blocking each other, particularly once they start falling on the floor in surprise.
Not much of a challenge
God Of Pranks is not a hard game. If you avoid pranking security guards, then the only tricky portions are the basketball-throwing levels, as the controls take some getting used to. The appeal is more in its sense of humor than challenges.
