Dynamic retro first-player shooter game

With graphics that draw inspiration from timeless, 90s-era arcade games, Hellscreen provides an unforgettable first-person shooter gaming experience that will keep players on the edge of their seats the entire time. It also comes with an interesting premise involving primitive gods and futuristic machines and settings, comprising an overall intriguing storyline.

Hellscreen is a high-stakes action game that involves various worlds to unlock and explore, invisible enemies, and hidden messages. The factor that sets it apart from similar titles is a rearview mirror that is highly integral to the gameplay as it shows the hidden enemies lurking behind the player.

Exciting first-person shooter horror game

Featuring straightforward controls and blood-pumping gameplay, Hellscreen is worth checking out for avid horror and action game fans. Each world presents a horde of enemies to kill, some of which are invisible to the naked eye and can only be seen through the rearview mirror. The graphics seem nonconventional—void of complete color and infrared-esque. Although, the screen is prone to flashing and glitching, which may be uncomfortable for some players.

In it, players take the role of a displaced protagonist who has to destroy the malfunctioning machine corrupting the afterlife and thus send souls to proper eternal rest. Besides that, the game also highlights the following:

  • Causing twice the damage when moving forward while shooting,
  • Finding soul cores to unlock more worlds,
  • Killing enemies through the rearview mirror,
  • Returning to previously cleared worlds to gain new loot, and
  • Picking up and upgrading weapons for better obstacle-clearing.

The graphics may not be for everyone

In a nutshell, Hellscreen plunges the player into a glitchy hellscape filled with nefarious beings borne from a malfunctioning monolithic machine. The player must take the mantle and destroy said machine to restore order, all while killing the enemies along the way. However, this is easier said than done, thanks to the challenging graphics and how some enemies are invisible unless they are viewed through the rearview mirror.
