VR puzzle adventure set on a prehistoric planet

In Robinson: The Journey, a virtual-reality adventure, you play as a young boy marooned on a distant planet. One year ago, your spaceship was destroyed in orbit, raining debris – and your escape pod – down on the surface. But this planet is no ordinary one: It’s inhabited by hordes of dinosaurs – ones that look exactly like those on Earth. With help from a few friends, you’ll have to explore and solve puzzles in order to find out what happened to your spaceship.

Explore a prehistoric planet

Since the crash, you’ve built a comfortable home and trained a pet dino, Laika. You also have a helpful robot who acts as your guide, provides tips and occasionally cracks a joke. Though you’ve adapted to life on this new planet, you continue to be plagued by the mystery surrounding the crash of your ship.

Uncover the cause of the crash

The bulk of the game involves solving puzzles by moving objects, climbing to new locations and occasionally using Laika to scare off other dinosaurs. There’s also a climbing gameplay element that activates each time you encounter an object or surface you need to climb; since there are plenty of mountains, cliffs and vines, you’ll become very familiar with this minigame. The game’s strength is its visuals: You’ll see lush forests and epic vistas, all designed and rendered perfectly. Unfortunately, you’ll often be left wondering what you need to do next to progress through the game as there are few hints or goals to guide you. And even with this lack of direction, the game is relatively short. Despite these shortcomings, Robinson: The Journey is an engaging adventure that demonstrates what can be achieved visually in VR games.
