Housebound horror game
Intruders: Hide and Seek is a first-person adventure game created by Tessera Studio. It is a VR-compatible horror game that will have you hide from intruders for as long as you can. However, this is easier said than done within the confines of his family home.
Intruders: Hide and Seek’s core mechanics are stealth-based. Unlike similar games, players cannot fight back against the antagonists. What they can only do is hide. It’s a virtual reality game but you can play the standard mode on your desktop. However, playing it on your computer alone makes the experience underwhelming.
Hide for your life
Intruders: Hide and Seek is a stealth game that revolves around a 13-year-old boy named Ben. In the game, three nefarious intruders invade Ben’s house. With his parents’ incapacitated and his younger sister hiding, Ben needs to use all his stealth skills to avoid being found. He has no method of fighting back. The only thing he can do is to hide and make no noise.
Unlike other horror games, this one does not stray too far in terms of ambition. While it has a simple premise, it comes with fluid controls and an intuitive approach to increase the difficulty steadily. It also avoids the kind of jarring movement jumps that VR games often have. Moreover, it does not over-complicate the gameplay with unnecessary features. However, doing so makes the game lack variety and short.
More than the brief run time, the game comes with other frustrating issues. For one, it looks rough around the edges, especially the character models and their animations. The rigid shuffle of its antagonists also takes the tension away at times. The same issues lie with the voice acting. It is a little stilted, which eradicates the player’s engrossment instantly.
Still a solid game
All in all, Intruders: Hide and Seek is a solid indie horror game worth your time. The game has a simple premise and straightforward gameplay that will have you engrossed at once. It does not have all the bells and whistles of other horror games, but its main stealth mechanics is more than adequate. However, some may find the game basic and lacking in variety.
