Stress-busting bouncing ball simulator
Kinetic Balls is a stress-relieving app that will hypnotize you through perpetual motion.
It’s essentially a simulation of those swinging ball games/ornaments, known as Newton’s cradles, that many people had in the 80s. The idea is that you hit one ball into the others and the resulting swinging motion that results keeps the balls moving for ages.
You control Kinetic Balls by holding and dragging a ball (or balls) then releasing your finger to fire it into the pack. The touch controls are a bit fiddly and unresponsive at times, and it can be difficult to stop the balls once their in motion. For me, it would’ve made more sense for Kinetic Balls to use the motion sensor to allow you to control the balls by tilting the screen.
That said, the physics in Kinetic Balls are very realistic, as are the graphics and sound effects. Plus, there are all sorts of skins to choose from, ranging from the traditional format to balls made out of little faces or basketballs.
Ultimately, there’s not much point to Kinetic Balls, but it’s an amusing way to switch off for a couple of minutes.
