Action-packed tower defense game

Tower defense games are among the genres that are steadily gaining popularity, especially in the mobile platform. With the hands-off gameplay and strategic design, combined with the portability and convenience of mobile devices, no wonder more and more gamers are making the switch. Arknights is yet another mobile game from this genre. It is a gorgeous anime-style game that perfectly combines role-playing and strategy. It takes the concept of tower defense and places it into a sci-fi setting involving Operators, mindscapes, and a boatload of fantasy elements. When you are looking to have fun defending your lair from enemy invasions, this game has everything you will need.

Tower defense meets RPG

Arknights is a breath of fresh air amongst tower defense games—in a way that it requires strategizing for you to successfully defend your lanes. Unlike other titles, winning the battles does not only mean plopping down units in random positions. You also need to consider the various parameters of each unit, such as roles, ranges, attacks, and the variety of skills that they come with.

It is in this aspect that the game showcases RPG elements. Instead of traditional towers that come with various types of attacks, there are many units in this game, all of which have certain roles in the battles. There are many roles that your unit can fulfill, and the way the unit types interact with each other adds another layer of strategy to the already-complex game. There are also many characters that you can recruit via gacha headhunting and recruiting systems. Every unit that you summon can be upgraded in many ways to improve their stats.

Arknights will provide players actual PvE challenges with pretty cool concepts. It also offers a lot of outside-combat systems. It even comes with an auto-deploy function that conveniently allows you to free up your hands. However, the sanity—energy for missions—is a bit smaller. Moreover, it lacks a lot of details in the tutorials, which can result in some crushing mistakes.
