Manage your cloud storage with this desktop app

4Shared Desktop allows you to use the online file storage service. Upload, download and manage your files in the cloud.

The big advantage of the free 4Shared service is the 10 gigabyte limit. This is much bigger than most free storage systems, giving you plenty of space to keep backups and so on. You can upload and download your cloud-based files, share them with links and synchronize folders.

In terms of user friendliness, 4Shared Desktop isn’t as easy to pick up and use as Dropbox. The interface doesn’t feel like a native Mac client, and is cluttered an unintuitive. Dropbox, on the other hand, is simple and sits quietly in the background. In our tests we found downloading your files with 4Shared Desktop was unreliable, and would stop without explanation.

On paper, with its 10GB of storage space and rich features, 4Shared Desktop looks like a winner but at the moment it’s a bit clunky and not very user friendly
