Rhoma Irama is a Sundanese-descendant Indonesian dangdut singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He started his career as a musician as Rhoma Irama in the pop group Orkes Melayu Purnama in the late 1960s, introducing a number of dangdut music elements. With his Soneta Group, he was dubbed the King of Dangdut during the prime of his success in the 1970s. He has also made a name for himself in the world of cinema as well as in the political scene.
