Vladimir Anokhin developed Shortcodes Ultimate, and it’s available in twenty languages. It’s a free plugin compatible with WordPress version 4.6 and higher and tested up to WordPress 5.8. It also supports PHP version 5.3 and up. 

The plugin consists of shortcodes for visual and functional elements. Insert it in text widgets, the editor, or template files. It allows you to create buttons, sliders, boxes, carousels, and much more. Other options are Shortcoder, Woo Shortcodes Kit, and Column Shortcodes.

The plugin gives you access to over fifty shortcodes, which you can insert into your website with a single click. It integrates with Gutenberg blocks, and with the live preview, you can see how the result will display. All elements are responsive, and it even gives you access to a CSS editor and a custom widget. With simple mode, you use HTML to create custom shortcodes, and with the advanced method, you use PHP. The editor highlights syntax and lets you insert variables. A handy feature is that you can import and export your codes between various sites. 

The Additional Skins add-on gives styling options for more than sixty headings, spoilers, tabs, and quotes. For your convenience, the plugin groups them into categories: modern, glass, flat, and different textures. 

How to insert a shortcode

The plugin adds a new button to your editor to help you insert the codes. Press the ‘insert shortcode’ button, then use a search or filter to find the shortcode you need. Select the shortcode, and adjust the settings. Press ‘Live preview’ to see how the shortcode will display. If you are happy, press ‘Insert shortcode’ at the bottom, and you’re done.
