Webcams delivered to your dashboard
If you’re a frequent traveler or just like to watch what’s going in the world in real time, then Webcams is a way of delivering live webcams to your desktop.
Webcams is supposed to allow you to see what’s happening in real time in any place that’s got one installed such as your hometown, famous world landmarks, the current traffic conditions in a certain area and more. Images and video are usually updated every few minutes although in the case of Webcams, the selection is incredibly poor. On installation, you’re given three choices from the start – New York, Antarctica and some generic picture of Old Faithful geyser that’s not even a webcam.
There are no preferences or options so it’s impossible to know how to add new webcams to the widget. You can refresh the images using the arrows in the top left hand corner although this also doesn’t seem to make much difference. Either the webcams are not working properly or they are simply fake. There is no way to add new webcams and there seems little way to find out how either.
Webcams is a nice idea but terribly executed and I certainly won’t be keeping this widget to monitor any of my favorite landmarks.
