A unique puzzle platform game where you live in signs

The Pedestrian is a quirky puzzle-platformer video game that allows you to literally use public signages to move around. Developed by Skookum Arts, this 2.5D side-scrolling package of fun is centered around the adventures of a hapless little stick figure you often see on male restroom signs and blinking exit signs. The Pedestrian requires you to make full use of the environment—even when your stick figure can only exist on scattered signages. It is a challenging puzzle game that utilizes platforms to a whole new level.

Classic platform games are usually of the 2D variety. Some 3D ones tend to feature more environmental objects as fully interactable, especially for the puzzle genre. A game like the Portal series requires you to creatively make your own path to be able to traverse the various levels and complete the missions. Titles like Limbo and Inside, on the other hand, take advantage of the 2D side-scrolling action to hide and reveal unique puzzle solutions.

Whichever the case, you’re going to need every trick you know with puzzles in order to beat The Pedestrian. In this indie game, you control a male stick figure living inside public signages. The signages themselves are unique platforms containing doors, ladders, ledges, elevators, levers, springs, and keys—and each level contains one or more signages that are disconnected. By pressing F, you can exit out of the stick figure’s world and manually move and link the signages around in order to solve the puzzles to be able to leave.

What’s great about The Pedestrian is that it takes place in a bigger world—from warehouses to city streets—and the tutorial even makes use of angles to present the controls needed while you play the game. The freedom of rearranging and linking signages also makes you feel like you’re designing your own platforms. It’s a highly rewarding type of puzzle game.
