An expansion for the sci-fi strategy game Stellaris
Stellaris: Overload is a premium strategy title developed by Paradox Development Studio. It is an expansion to the popular grand strategy sci-fi game Stellaris. It has a heavy emphasis on the subjugation system that was in the original release and makes it a more balanced experience.
Compared to Stellaris, Stellaris: Overload builds upon the deep and complex gameplay mechanics and systems of the original. It introduces new ways to manage and assign roles to subjects, as well as new megastructures that will aid players in expanding their empires into the further reaches of the galaxy.
Benevolence or subjugation
Stellaris is a grand strategy sci-fi game that was released back in 2016. It received very positive reviews from gamers and reviewers alike. Many praised its intuitive game interface, as well as its RPG-like gameplay that allowed players to customize the species and factions in various ways. It has released multiple expansions since launch, and Stellaris: Overload is the latest addition to the list.
Just like with its predecessors, the Overlord expansion builds upon the refined 4X strategy mechanics and gameplay of the original. This time around, it focuses on the distinct subjugation system that was in place before. As per the developer’s words, it’s to “make subjugation a more valuable and viable system.” This revision affords you the choice to be a ruthless ruler or a kind one.
Of course, it still offers additional features in the form of new megastructures that will help facilitate the expansion of your empire and that of your subjects to greater heights. Unfortunately, the game is not available yet, nor does it have an official release date. You can keep up with the latest news and announcements via its official Steam page, though.
The choice is yours
If you’ve played Stellaris and all of its expansions and are looking for more, Stellaris: Overlord will scratch that grand strategy itch you’re having. It will focus more on reworking the aforementioned subjugation system and will result in pretty interesting ways to approach gameplay. It’s a small change but it makes playing the game feel new and the experience more meaningful.
