Early access indie business simulator
Startup Company is an early access business simulator. Starting with an empty bank account, the game tasks players with building their own office and products while competing against larger rivals to become a successful operation.
The world of business
Startup Company starts players with a basic office and an open-ended mission: succeed. Despite this seemingly sandbox style of gameplay, it quickly becomes apparent that the game lacks depth. While there are a huge amount of choices and options in decorating the office, hiring employees and deciding on products to develop, it all becomes a simple clicking simulator all too quickly. This may simply be due to the early access status of the game, the lack of content is currently the major negative for Startup Company. The game needs to feel limitless but instead becomes dry and linear. Employees have no real personality or challenge, offices come in one of three basic layouts and the soundtrack loops endlessly. Despite this, it should be said that the developer is actively engaged with the community and future updates may fix some of the issues with the game.
Too limited
Startup Company is a fairly simplistic title. The lack of real decision making and challenge create a sense of pointlessness. Those looking to get really engaged with a simulator will lose interest rapidly, but future content additions may change this.
