Original shoot ’em-up based on sketches and drawings
Imagine if all those sketches you made of spaceships as a kid actually came to life in a shoot-em-up on your computer.
That’s the basis behind SketchFighter, a unique game that’s low on graphics and high on originality. It’s a bit like stepping into an Aha video except it’s all about spaceships. The game is entirely in black and white to add to the effect, although the odd-bit of color does creep in. The background is the same blue-lined writing pad paper that anyone who has been to school will recognize.
You have to navigate your ship through a maze filled with bugs of all shapes and sizes, which you must shoot-down Space-Invaders style to survive and make it to the end – which is easier said than done.
The simplicity of the game is extremely addictive, although it’s questionable whether it would have lasting appeal once the novelty has worn off. The overall authenticity, controls and retro look of the game are excellent though and SketchFighter is worth trying for this reasons alone.
SketchFighter is a unique game that will definitely have you hooked for a while, although it’s not one for those that love great graphics and sound.
