The muting utility app
Shush – Microphone Manager is a utility app which puts you in full control of when you can be heard using other audio apps installed on your computer or smart device. It sets up a hotkey that stops your microphone working temporarily and then allows you to turn it back on.
Only be heard when you want to be
Ideal if you want to remain silent during a VoIP call or when you are collaborating with musicians over the Internet, Shush – Microphone Manager is a handy app which does nothing other than mute your microphone. It does this quickly and reliably but beyond this function, it has little to offer. For example, there is no volume control slider included. It is compatible with FaceTime, Skype, Google Chat and GarageBand among many other well-known programs.
The last word in muting?
Although this is a useful app, many microphones can be switched off anyway, making it a little redundant. If yours doesn’t and you don’t trust the built-in muting buttons included with some voice-based apps, then Shush – Microphone Manager is well worth it.
