Official NSW mobile app

Service NSW is a mobile utility app for New South Wales residents. As the official NSW app, this allows users to access various government services on their mobile phones. With it, you can check and verify licenses and credentials. You can also renew and check your registration, as well as view and pay for fines. The app also has a built-in COVID Safe check-in feature, allowing you to check any venue for COVID safety.

What is Service NSW?

As mentioned, Service NSW is an app that offers easy access to government services. With it, you can view your licenses and credentials, such as driver’s license, boat driving license, and recreational fishing license. More than that, you can also verify a driver’s license using the built-in license checker. Users also do not need to go to any government office to pay for fines, as they can do it through the app.

Aside from accessing digital licenses, Service NSW also works as a COVID 19 venue checker. Using its COVID Safety check-in feature, you can see if a place you are visiting is safe from the virus. You only have to scan the QR code using your camera. Not only that, but you can also access other COVID 19 resources through the app. You can check statistics and even use the assistance finder for benefits, rebates, and concessions.

However, do not rely on the app solely for protecting you against COVID 19. The app’s safety checker is unreliable. It doesn’t work most of the time, so you cannot use it to check on every venue you go to. Sometimes, it only works for two places, and then the QR scanner will stop working. Moreover, the app sometimes fails to save the details of your previously visited place, so you need to scan it again.

Would have been helpful

All in all, Service NSW is a convenient app for any user from New South Wales. It offers various tools that make access to government services easier and safer. However, not all of the features work as intended, especially its COVID-related features, which would have been a big help given the world’s current situation. As it is now, it needs further improvements for it to live up to its promises.
