Fantasy-romance visual novel
Pyreside Waltz is a romance visual novel game created by inkEthic. This game will have you go on a romantic adventure in a fictional kingdom inspired by Russian fairytales. You can pursue a love story with five different suitors, each with unique Live2D models.
Unlike other otome games, Pyreside Waltz has a history jump feature, allowing you to scroll back through the game and explore other options. However, note that while it has romance at the core, the game has light body horror imagery and some adult content. The game is also in a demo stage, so content is limited.
What is Pyreside Waltz?
Pyreside Waltz is a visual novel that provides players with a fantasy romance story. You play as Motya, a strange doll with a low-key personality and dry wit. Throughout the story, you will meet five different suitors with whom you will pursue a romance. There is Ermolai, the jovial and well-meaning leader with an exuberant personality. You will also meet Perepyol, the weary scholar with a dry, acerbic manner.
The game also introduces players to Vakhet, the serious palace guard, and Timoor, the back-alley doctor, who is a jovial one. Completing the list is Rosherik, the back-alley denizen. Each character sprite has a fully animated and expressive Live2D mode. However, each also comes with a static toggle for older or lower-specification PCs. Note, however, that the game tends to lag after some time, especially with three characters on screen.
As mentioned, Pyreside Waltz has a history jump feature, allowing players to select from up to 30 lines in the past and jump to that part of the game. With this, you can explore other options and pursue a different ending. However, due to the lagging problem, jumping can be problematic. As this is still a demo game, the content will be pretty limited.
Is the game good?
Overall, Pyreside Waltz is a good otome game. It has a complex narrative presented using well-written characters. It also helped that the visual design and animations are very well-made to help the characters feel even more alive. However, it could use optimization as the app tends to lag after playing for some time. Nevertheless, this demo version is enough to hype you up for the full game.
