Edit Your Markdown Easily, Fluidly And Reliabley With A Handy Preview.
Markoff is a markdown previewer, particularly CommonMark, that displays and automatically reefreshes previews of markdown files as they’re edited. It’s simple, lightweight, and easy to use, while having most or all of the essential features a markdown programmer would value.
Small issues with lots of markdown
The auto-refresh feature is the big thing in Markoff, as it’s very reliable and fast, even compared to good alternatives like Sublime Text. Its rendering accuracy is also quite high, and it can be resized to a smaller window to sit next to a text editor without losing any interface elements or visual clarity. This makes it pretty handy overall for speedy editing. More problematic is printing: on two of three desktops running the software, printing was simply impossible due to OS-level permission issues.
The mark of a winner
Basically, Markoff works very well if all you need is a lightweight previewer for markdown, and you don’t deal with extremely high wordcounts. If you do, it can run more slowly, though the auto-refresh will still trigger reliably, which helps a lot. If printing isn’t extremely important, Markoff comes highly recommended.
