The Second Game in the ‘Mafia’ Series
Mafia II: Director’s Cut is an action adventure game, developed by 2K Czech. It is the sequel to the original Mafia game, with players controlling the character of Vito Scaletta; a war veteran who becomes caught up with the mob. The plot centers on Vito’s efforts to work his way up through the organized crime world.
Open World Gameplay
The game is played from a third-person perspective and adopts an open world approach, albeit with some more linear aspects. Core gameplay involves completing missions, engaging in shoot outs, and exploring the game world, which can either be done on foot, or through the use of vehicles. Mafia II’s plot is set during the early 1950s, in a fictional city called Empire Bay, which is based on New York City.
Director’s Cut
It is worth pointing out that Mafia II features very strong language, which may put some players off and may make it unsuitable for others. However, ultimately, it is a game with an engaging plot, solid core gameplay and an excellent soundtrack. Moreover, the Director’s Cut version of the game also includes all three official expansion packs, as well as four style packs, adding even greater depth.
