A free app for viewing international stocks outside of China

Futu Niu Niu was built for small Chinese investors and younger Chinese investors who are not comfortable having all their investments within the Chinese mainland.

Aimed at younger investors

Futu Niu Niu was built to help Chinese investors buy stocks and shares in companies outside of China. Some Chinese companies such as Tencent and Alibaba are still listed on this app because they are listed on non-Chinese stock markets too. The app shows you the stock prices of different international companies and makes its money by advertising brokers who will help you make trades internationally, and by selling Futu brokerage services. The app is built to resemble modern utility apps rather than modern stock ticker/ stock analysis apps in order to appeal to younger investors.

A winner in terms of simplicity

Futu Niu Niu was released at a time when most other stock trading apps looked like something an accountant or analyst would love, but not something a new investor would enjoy. Futu Niu Niu looks more like a social media app than an investment app, which is part of its charm for younger people and people with just a few thousand dollars to invest. The downside is that the app relies on Futu, on the custodial bank BNP Paribas continuing to thrive without the authoritarian Chinese government making their lives even harder with investment rules and/or without the Chinese authorities closing down the company or bank because it makes international investment too easy, (the same reason the Chinese authorities banned Bitcoin trading in China).
