A 2.5D puzzle game where you play as an egg

Eggy is a 2.5D puzzle game where the player assumes control of an egg in a range of rich and detailed environments. The player has limited controls to move the egg around, and one of those primary controls is the ability to launch the egg in any given direction.

This game slots nicely into a genre of frustrating puzzle games. These include popular entries like Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy and Golfing Over It with Alva Majo. Initially, the game is easy to play, but it gets quite difficult as the player progresses.

Control an egg

In Eggy, the player takes on the role of a lost egg. The egg can roll around and launch itself in any direction but is still fragile. That means if the player misjudges a jump or misses a platform and then falls, the egg will break open, causing the player to lose progress. There are also obstacles that crush the egg or push it off the map.

A rich 2.5D world

The game takes place in a 2.5D world, meaning the visuals are created using three-dimensional models. However, the gameplay itself takes place on a two-dimensional plane, like a side-scrolling platformer. The game world is very rich, packing plenty of detail into the levels, and it features a number of different landscapes to traverse.

Visually impressive but frustratingly difficult

While the impressive visuals can’t be denied, Eggy is a game that gets quite difficult as the player progresses. The earlier stages are quite beginner-friendly, though some players have reported a very steep rise in difficulty level near the end of the game.
