A free and open-source music player
DeaDBeeF is a simple music player with a grey color scheme and a simple interface. It has been stripped down to basics so that other programmers may change the code for the player and customize it the way they see fit. The music tool has a robust team of programmers that use it, and they have created plugins to make it more interesting.
Build your own plugins or use other people’s
The DeaDBeeF tool itself is not very exciting at all. It is only interesting if you try adding plugins. For example, there is a plugin that allows you to play music from zipped files, which is not something that other music players allow you to do. Another plugin allows you to customize your toolbar, another gives you a file browser, another gives you a quick-search function. Other music players come with their own features already pre-packaged into the software, but with this program, you are able to pick your own features.
The plugins allows you to do more
The basic DeaDBeeF music player is only interesting when you add plugins to do things that you cannot do with other media players. It is more exciting if you are able to program your own plugins, but even if you are not, there are plenty of features to choose from with the plugins that other developers have already created.
