Play Picross In A Style Close To Its Invention.
CrossPix Magic is a Picross puzzle game, in the vein of Pokemon Picross and other examples of the classical Japanese puzzle style. It sets itself apart with minimal presentation: monochrome puzzles on a dark blue interface. It also offers a points system where successful players can unlock new packs of puzzles.
Learning new spells and new puzzles
CrossPix Magic starts the player off with a handful of puzzles, played with a blue background and relaxing music. Once these small puzzles are solved by figuring out the shape that their individual squares make up, the player earns points, and they can purchase new puzzles with them. This is a great way to give the player a sense of progression and hide higher difficulty puzzles, though some of the later puzzles are very, very costly.
A pseudo-magical game
Overall, CrossPix Magic is a great way to enjoy simple Picross puzzles with a sleek, minimal interface and barebones colour options. The game looks great, even if the puzzles are generally monochrome, and the puzzles it provides are bite-sized but still appropriately challenging.
