General ledger and payroll accounting software
Bookkeeping and payroll accounting can be daunting for the small business person with no experience in either area.
Applications like Corona are designed for those that need a purely basic accounting system for on-the-fly account creation. Corona allows you to drag and drop items, create payroll lists, and search transactions and payments. When you start Corona, there is no setup wizard to take you through the basics, but it’s so simple that you don’t really need one.
One concept unique to Corona is ‘Folios’. Folios are similar to invoices but are also suitable when charges for sales and services span across many days, weeks or months. This is ideal for those who can’t account for items instantly because they take a long time to process, order or receive settlement from. This makes folios useful for estimates, bid quotations or simply as a checklist for items pending invoicing.
The overall look of Corona is very basic and it’s clear from the start that it’s not a particularly advanced accounting application. Adding new entries isn’t particularly well explained although a few minutes trial and error gets you there. There’s is an extensive manual however which shows you how to export and import data too.
If you run a small business and need a simple payroll and accounting system, Corona is a useful start although you may soon outgrow it.
