Get Organized, Right On Your Desktop.
Blotter is an app that integrates with iCal to allow you to view your week and beyond as a part of your wallpaper. It also provides access to iCal’s functions directly from your desktop. But do all of these features measure up in practice, and does Blotter really improve how you work? Read on to find out.
All Too Easy To Use
As you’d expect, to use Blotter, you need to use iCal. It won’t replace your existing calendar if you have one with iCal, and to properly enjoy this app, you should be using iCal already. Beyond adding events and reminders, you can’t edit your calendar without opening iCal, so this is definitely a tool for existing users. But it’s a good tool: it uses very little memory, if that’s a concern, and so doesn’t slow down your machine at all. It also looks good, with softly colour-coded entries and strong integration with iCal’s own interface.
Simple Problems, Simple Solutions
Blotter doesn’t work for using iCal as well as iCal itself does. What it provides is the ability to see your calendar at a glance, and to integrate it with the desktop that you may or may not heavily use. It’s a matter of preference, but we certainly found that placing our calendar in front of shining scenes from nature improved our mood as we planned our day.
