Excellent stopwatch, alarm clock, countdown and clock utility

One thing that’s surprisingly absent from OS X is a decent timing utility. I know it’s unlikely you’re going to take your Mac on a jog with you, but there are other instances where a good timing device is handy.

Apimac Timer is a complete and professional stopwatch, alarm clock, countdown, and clock utility for OS X. Apimac Timer is free to use and superbly designed throughout offering an excellent four-in-one timing tool. My favorite feature is the alarm clock that allows you to set an alarm tone ranging from an iTunes track to a generic sound of your choosing. Unfortunatrely, you can’t add your own custom sounds but there are plenty to choose from. Even more interesting is an automated email-sending function, so that when the alarm is triggered, it sends an email.

The clock displays large digits and enables you to switch from a small window to full-screen mode. Unfortunately, there are no time-zone settings so you’ll have to configure the time manually for wherever you are in the world. You can even use Apimac Timer to log out, restart, shut down, sleep, log an event and quit or launch an application at any time.

OS X is desperately in need of a timing application like this and Apimac succeeds handsomely where Apple has failed.
