Allow Panther and Tiger to access Active Directory
ADmitMac is a specialized application that gives you protected access to directory services like Microsoft’s Active Directory, NT, and Apple’s Workgroup Manager.
If you’re still running Panther or Tiger, ADmitMac is the only way you can access these services. It isn’t, however, a particularly simple application to set up or configure and if you’ve never done this before, you may struggle. The advantage of ADmitMac is that it’s very secure once set up, and it makes it simple to share between multiple users and computers.
ADmitMac will mainly appeal to those in a professional environment who need to protect data they want to share with others, mainly those who are working in a mixed platform office. The result is that administrators can manage their domain users consistently regardless of which operating system they use. Note that ADmitmac also includes a plug-in called ‘AD Commander’, which allows administrators to manage Active Directory users and groups.
ADmitMac is a complicated application to configure but if you’re using Panther or Tiger, it may be your best bet of networking with PC’s in a professional environment.
