Free Desktop Moon Simulation
Desktop Moon, quite simply, puts the Moon on your desktop. In great detail, you can view our closest natural satellite in all its glory.
Fun and Interesting
Using data gathered during multiple exploration missions to the Moon, Desktop Moon lets you look at the Moon in spectacular detail. It also comes with a number of viewing options, such as the option to view the Moon in it’s current phase, or to view it as seen from your location. You can watch the entire month in a brief time lapse. You can adjust things like the intensity of “earthshine” (reflected light from Earth) which changes the shadows cast on the Moon. The app can also tell you the Moon rise and set times in your location, in case you want to go and look at the real Moon.
A Fun and Interesting App
For a free desktop widget, Desktop Moon is a great little app. It would be nice to be able to lock the Moon in place to prevent accidental moving or resizing. And if ever there was an app in need of a built in screenshot function, it’s this. But beyond that, there’s not much to complain about.
