Remote access software for desktop

LogMeIn is a premium remote control software created by LogMeIn for desktop devices. It provides users with remote access capabilities that allow them to access and manage machines from two different locations. In addition, it offers file transfer and remote printing features across devices.

The idea behind LogMeIn is similar to that of AnyDesk or TeamViewer in that it facilities establishing a connection between remote devices for control and management purposes. Once its free trial period has expired, it offers potential buyers multiple subscription plans to choose from depending on their needs and number of users.

Is it any good?

Whether you’re using it for personal or professional use, a remote access program is a convenient way to access and manage devices from pretty much any location simply through a good and stable internet connection. LogMeIn is one such solution that offers cross-platform compatibility and comes with some pretty useful and convenient features on top of just simple remote access functions.

Setting it up is standard fare for these types of tools. You install the main Control Panel utility on the machine that you want to access remotely. While you can use the Client tool on a device of your choosing to access it. LogMeIn comes with a split-view file manager for file transfers, as well as a Wake on LAN function to power on machines from sleep.

For troubleshooting or instructional use cases, you have the Whiteboard Drawing and Screen Record tools to help you communicate better. Security is handled by SSL/TLS protocols and each session strictly requires you to input login credentials. One missing feature that could have greatly improved the overall experience is video conferencing. Also, performance could use some tweaking as the program can be quite resource-intensive.

A simple and capable remote access solution

Overall, LogMeIn is a good remote access solution that brings some nice and handy features with it. Setting it up is simple, it works cross-platform, and just works as it should. If you’ve been looking for a new tool to try out for personal or even professional use, this one is an option that is worth considering.
