One-kill FPS

Ratz Instagib is a first-person shooting game from Rising Star Games. In this action game, you are in control of a space-marine rat. Your goal is to eliminate all other rats using your laser rifle.

As the name suggests, Ratz Instagib uses the beloved instagib style of one-hit-kill combat from games such as Quake and Unreal Tournament. There’s only one weapon, but you have unlimited ammo. It also hits where you aim it and has zero travel time. The rat can also rocket jump around the room. However, the game has a small player base, and matchmaking is essentially nonexistent.

What is Ratz Instagib?

Ratz Instagib is an arena shooting game stripped down to its core essentials. As mentioned, you play as a railgun-toting rat in a household-themed arena with a goal to kill all other rats around. There is only one weapon with unlimited ammo. It also hits exactly where you aim it. With this, there are no iron sights, no reloading, and no automatic file. Every shot is also a potential kill.

More than that, the game is also distinctly kinetic. You can jump around to keep your momentum up. Bunny hopping, meanwhile, will glide you across the map. However, stopping the jump will make your character crawl and become an easy target. Additionally, as you are a rat, everything on the map looks gigantic. With this, the only way you can go atop the furniture is by jumping.

There will be no unlocks beyond cosmetic changes. With this you will have a level playing field for all.  However, the player base isn’t all that large, making matchmaking nonexistent. At some point, you will play a game that has one of the best players in it. The lack of players also makes the other modes—capture the flag, free-for-all, freeze tag, survival, and duel—problematic.

Is the game good?

Overall, Ratz Instagib is an astonishingly great game. It has simple gameplay made simpler by stripping down all the bells and whistles of other shooting games. It also offers a lot of playable modes that you can try. However, unless hundreds of other players buy it, there will be little to no game here. As it is now, arranging a match is difficult as there are very few players available.
