Fix Richie and Eddie’s story

Use Your Outside Voice, Richie Tozier! is a free simulation video game that lets you can see an ending wherein Richie Tozier and Eddie Kaspbrak lead much better lives afterward. Developed by mapurl, this indie game is a pixelated fix-it fangame of the horror film, It: Chapter Two. It’s meant for fans of their bittersweet pairing and is the prequel to Let Yourself Out, Eddie Kaspbrak!.

Help in fixing things

It: Chapter Two is a 2019 American supernatural horror film and the sequel to the 2017 film, It—which were both based on the 1986 classic novel by Stephen King. The story follows the return of The Losers Club to their hometown 27 years later in order to vanquish an old enemy once and for all. Of the group, Richie Tozier and Eddie Kaspbrak are some of the members who end up having the saddest of endings.

Fortunately, though, Use Your Outside Voice, Richie Tozier! lets you fix their story. It plays out like a 2D top-down adventure game wherein you control Richie and see the events of the film through his POV. This game offers new events to expand the potential of an alternate ending but it’s also quite linear in its storytelling. It’s also pretty short and won’t take more than an hour or so.

The only controls are the arrow keys for movement and the Spacebar for interaction. You can’t fail so there’s no need to worry about messing up. The story does show new scenes regarding the two characters’ relationship—and it even discusses heavy subject matters—but the jumpscares here are the same ones in the movie. It’s too bad that the game often crashes and can be hard to install.

What the fandom wanted

Overall, Use Your Outside Voice, Richie Tozier! is a great fangame for It: Chapter Two. While it’s not easy to install and even crashes most of the time, it really delivers what this pairing’s fans have been looking for in fanworks. It also offers a nice pixelated version of the movie, as well as additional scenes for Riche and Eddie. It’s highly recommended to finish this whole series with the developer’s sequel game, too.
