Excellent Winamp-style music player for Macs

If you’ve recently switched to Mac from Windows and miss the good old days of simple music players like Winamp, then Audion could be for you.

Audion is a simple but powerful music player that makes playing music easy – no music stores, no ads and no bloated syncing options. Simply drag and drop music into it and enjoy. The Audion project is discontinued but fortunately, the developers have decided to make it completely free by providing the serial number: RNL07P0-030HWMV-4MAGDS3-4U17REX. Just enter this in the About/Purchase Audion section in the file menu its yours to use unlimited forever!

Audion can be used to play audio CDs, MP3s, and even audio streamed over a network. You can also encode, edit, mix, sort and manage and visualize music. Additionally, it can also broadcast, record and crossfade music. The playlist isn’t easily accessible though – you have to select it from the File Menu rather than the small player but when you have done, you can just drag and drop audio into it. One criticism is that the player itself is so small, that its hard to read the various functions or even the track you´re currently playing.

There are many other great features in Audion such as an alarm so you can wake up to your favorite tunes, basic iPod syncing (although with latter iPod updates, this function doesn’t work anymore) and lots of different skins which you can use to give Audion a whole new look.

Audion is a fantastic alternative for anyone tired with bloated apps like iTunes or who just wants a Winamp equivalent on Mac.
