Launch apps from your menu bar

It’s probably because the developer is Japanese that aLunch is not called aLaunch which would be a more appropriate name for this menu bar applications launcher.

aLunch allows you to launch programs from the menu bar thus eliminating the need for a dock altogether. It’s highly customizable allowing you to access just about any file from your menu bar or from a hot key. The same goes for folders – almost any folder can be opened with aLunch from your menu bar.

Despite it’s obvious advantages, aLunch isn’t exactly straightforward to setup. I would prefer it if all the applications were preloaded from the start but you have to instruct you which applications you want to open using aLunch which isn’t easy. Once you have got the hang of it however, it’s very nice creating categories for different apps – such as work and leisure. The same goes for folders and categories which you’re able to far better organize and access in aLunch than in Finder.

Despite the odd name, aLunch is a useful alternative to using the Dock although if you don’t need menu bar access to apps and folders then you probably won’t find much use for it.
