Fighting The Infected Horde
Left 4 Dead 2 is an action game created by Valve. The action game still features a cooperative first-person shooter with 4 survivors against the hordes of the infected. Players select various scenarios to challenge in survival horror settings.
New Faces, New Challenges
Left 4 Dead 2 departs from the previous game Left 4 Dead by introducing new protagonists. Players can choose high school teacher Coach, mechanic Ellis, con man Nick, and news reporter Rochelle. There are new five campaigns with different locations based on the Southern United States. The story is still the same, 4 uninfected survivors try to evacuate to a safe zone established by the government. Along the way, they will encounter common infected and the genetically-mutated special infected. Each campaign is different from others from objectives to mini-games and even length. Dead Center is the first campaign involving hijacking a stock car from a mall and collecting petrol. Dark Carnival takes place in an infested carnival and calling a rescue chopper. Swamp Fever forces players to travel from a bayou to abandoned swamp villages and eventually a plantation mansion. Hard Rain forces players to collect gasoline from a sugarcane plantation for their boat while a thunderstorm arrives. The Parish is the final campaign where players must fight their way on the city to the rescue helicopter. Completing each campaign while doing well rewards players with awards, rankings, and stats. New weapons and items are included in the game for extra survivability. There are melee weapons, special ammunition, explosives, high-tier guns, adrenaline shots, and defibrillator. Items are still scarce so players must conserve their resources. There are DLC campaigns that connect Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. The Sacrifice forces players to decide which one must remain to operate the generator while the others escape safely. The Passing includes the previous survivors of Left 4 Dead assisting the players on crossing a bridge. The common infected in Left 4 Dead 2 features the uncommon ones like the hazmat-clad CEDA Worker, Fallen Survivor, Clown, Mudmen, Worker, and Riot Police. At least the enemies don’t look bland and generic every time. The special infected make their way back to this game with new skins: The Boomer, The Hunter, The Smoker, The Tank, and The Witch. There are also 3 new special infected: The Charger, The Spitter, and The Jockey. The A.I. Director is also improved to make the campaigns more challenging. Player performance affects A.I. Director generates. It procedurally spawns the weapons and items depending on how the players, as well as alter the stage layout, lighting, and weather for unique experiences. The A.I. Director also encourages the players to cooperate and fight harder zombie waves in exchange for special weapons and items.
More Than Survival Challenge
Left 4 Dead 2 has a variety of game modes to play. Single Player Campaign involves one survivor with the A.I. controlling the other 3 survivors. Multiplayer Campaign is the classic 4-man team against the horde. Survival Mode is more of an extra challenge where players try to stay alive in the longest time. Players can also take the role of the special infected in 4-vs-4 Versus Mode. The Scavenge Mode also have 4 players procuring special items while the other 4 interrupts them from escaping. Realism Mode is available at Campaign and Versus Mode where visibility is reduced, knocked out players can only be revived by the defibrillator, deaths will not respawn dead players on the next campaign section, headshots deal lethal damage and The Witch can one-shot kill players. Mutation Mode is a dynamic system that alters the game behavior every time.
Don’t end up Left For Dead
Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the most widely acclaimed multiplayer games due to its vast campaigns, different game modes, smarter A.I. Director, a variety of weapons and lethal special infected. Everything is fast-paced, haunting and intense, perfect for a zombie apocalypse game. Its gameplay has been tested by time and still enjoyable as of today.
