Capture your screen as a Photoshop layered image

Most screen capture tools don’t take into account that sometimes you need to label and annotate several layers of graphics within a screenshot.

Layers aims to fill this gap in the market by allowing you to label and name layers of a screenshot in an easy-to-read way. Layers requires you to simply configure a hotkey, through which you can customize a capture in the inspector. What you’ll get is what’s called a PSD file which means that each window you’ve captured within a screenshot will be easily manipulated and annotated in a way that is impossible with a conventional screenshot.

Layers could be ideal for those that are building tutorials, manuals or anything else that requires specific instructions within a layer. For instance, you can capture the dock bar, status bar, finder icons, etc. all as entirely separate entities within one screenshot. Each PSD is grouped by category such as Desktop (with Finder icons), Dock, Main Menu and Applications, overlays, pop-ups and floating windows.

Layers is a serious screenshot tool for those designers and developers that need maximum control over their annotations and tutorials – definitely not one for those that just need a simple screen grab.
